Mars Colony Simulation Shows Promise for Long-Term Habitation
A year-long simulation of a Mars colony environment has concluded with promising results for the feasibility of extended human habitation on the red planet. Six volunteers lived in a sealed habitat in the Utah desert, growing their own food, recycling water, and conducting experiments under conditions designed to mimic Martian constraints. Psychological challenges emerged around month six but coping strategies improved in the second half. The data will inform future Mars mission planning.
